Paskha Celebrations in Russia

Easter is considered to be the most significant holiday in the Russian Orthodox Church and Easter Sunday (Paskha) is the highlight of the Easter celebrations in Russia. Followers of the Christian religion throughout Russia will spend Paskha attending religious ceremonies and eating traditional foods with family and friends in remembrance of the miracle of Christ’s resurrection. The name Paskha is taken from the Greek word Pascha being a translation of the Hebrew word for Passover.

The Zoological Museum of the Russian Academy of Science

The Zoological Museum of the Russian Academy of Science in St. Petersburg is the largest Zoological museum in the whole of Russia. It did not start as a museum, but more as big zoological collection of magnificent items. By 1832, it was recognized as an independent museum and was founded on the diversity of the collections in its possession. After amalgamating with the Russian Academy of Sciences in St Petersburg, the museum became known as the Zoological Museum of the Russian Academy of Science.

Moscow International Cycling Show

Once again the RTE-Group has been working hard to bring the Moscow International Cycling Show to life. This group specializes in hosting the biggest international gatherings, such as congresses, fairs and exhibitions. And as the Moscow International Cycling Show is one of the biggest events of its kind in Russia, the responsibility to organize and see to the smooth running of the show fell to the RTE-Group. The 2008 Moscow International Cycling Show will be held from 22 to 24 February 2008 and the doors to LFC CSKA Sports Centre will open at midday each day of the exhibition.

The Legendary Patriarch’s Pond

“One hot evening, just as the sun was going down, two men appeared at Patriarch’s Pond.” This is the opening line to a book named ‘The Master and Margarita’, written by one of the best authors to emerge from Russia, Mikhail Bulgakov. Sitting quietly on the park bench at Patriarch’s Pond, one can almost see the two men who run into the Devil along the way. Much of the book centers around this magnificent location in Moscow, which attracts many visitors even though is only consists of a pond and a square.
