Always Something to See or Do in Khabarovsk
The city of Khabarovsk has become a destination in Russia that many tourists dream of. It has a flourishing economy, is a modernized city, but has more ancient and historical sites than most other cities. Located in Far East Russia, Khabarovsk is located near the border of China and has grown into an administrative center that is home to approximately 579 thousand residents, since being founded in 1858. As an industrial and transport center to the region, the only city that rivals its importance is Vladivostok.
Khabarovsk has an extensive transportation network, with waterways making the transportation of goods easy and visitors being able to reach the city by rail on the Trans-Siberian Railway. The Khabarovsk Novy Airport accommodates international flights to and from destinations such as Europe, South Korea, Central Asia and China. Trams and buses are available inside the city.
The streets of the city bustle during the day with newspaper boys, pedestrians and street vendors. It also has an active nightlife with clubs, restaurants and bars. Khabarovsk is a destination in Russia that does not only keep visitors busy during the day, but also at night. The Regional Lore and Natural History Museum attracts visitors that long for rare glimpses of the Steller Cow, or Sea Cow, skeleton, while the Art Museum has a magnificent collection of the Russian icons of the past. The city is also known for its great number of recreational parks, stadiums, theatres and cinemas, of which the Musical Comedy Theatre remains a favorite. Lenin Square and the local Market are also fascinating places to visit and the souvenir shops and stores along Amursky Boulevard are guaranteed to have something to everyone’s taste.
For the nature enthusiasts, the Boshehehtsirsky Reserve will be a treat for all and there are also a few recommended archeological sites that should not be missed out on. Sites such as the Chnyrrakhskaya Fortress, the group of archeological monuments on Suchu island, the rock paintings located on the Kiya River, rock carvings by the Maya River, the Tyr Temples and the Sikhachi-Alyan Petroglyphs are all extremely noteworthy and fascinating.
Tourists and visitors can look forward to an adventure in Khabarovsk, with all the little luxuries from home, but with the natural beauty and interesting historical sites that are expectied when exploring a new city.
