Shavarma in India is:

Lots of meat attached tightly to a vertical shaft of 500 mm long.
With meat, it is about 300 mm dia.
It is rotated.
An electric heater roasts the meat on the surface, along the height of the meat roll.

when the surface is roasted to a sufficient depth, the meat is shaved off in flakes:
And served with accompaniment.

It can as well be called SHAVE-ARMA

I think the name is of Arab origin.
