The most famous are: borsch (it’s a kind of soup, but it’s usually with tomato, so it’s red; there are many sorts of borsch, including Green borsch – with much greens, especially sorrel); pelmeni (something similar to ravioli); salad Olivye (or Russian salad) – a very tasty one ; bliny (-pl, [i] is pronounced like in closed syllable; in sing. it’ll be “blin”), or pancakes - traditional Russian pancakes are usually rather thick, but in fact thin bliny are in greater demand.
