C Force,
If you are a minimalist, try the Dillo browser. It's small, simple, and I think they make it for Microsoft OS too. As for tabs, I can't do without them. In Opera, I can have fifteen tabs open to all of my favorite news, mail, and forum sites, and either click, or keyboard shortcut from one to another in an instant. The amount of duplicate code eating up memory is greatly reduced, and if I close Opera, or shut down my PC, all my open tabs will be back in place the next time I boot the PC, or open the browser.
Also, if you like a download manager that works, a nice built in POP3/IMAP mail client, RSS feeds, and BitTorrent, they are built into Opera 9. Since you use a laptop, the outstanding mouse gestures might not be easy for you, but the keyboard shortcuts would work like a charm. For that matter, Opera for Win is voice enabled. It can read text to you and repond to commands as well. I think there is a big difference between browsers in terms of the "internet experience". Pretty much all cars with get you from point A to point B, but I'd prefer the ride in a Subaru STi, over that of a Yugo
