The discrimination is in the bogus language law which is found no where else in former USSR.
Unnecessarily provocative given that most Russians in Latvia and Estonia voted for independence from the USSR. Latvia and Estonia don't firmly renounce their Nazi past and currently discrimninate against Russians. Russia need not "apologize" to such governments for something that it already acknowledged. |

I will say you one more time - there were no voteing. Our goverment just declared again our independence and thats all.
I dont care what other former USSR members are doing. This is their country and they can act there as they want. And you want to say that russian speaking people who are living in the Estonia must get citizenship without knowing our official language?? |

No, you're wrong as there was such a referendum that was reported on when it happened. In that referendum most of the Russians in Latvia and Estonia voted for independence from the USSR.
As for the language law, no other former Soviet republic has such. Btw, the Baltics were part of the Russian Empire for a lengthy period as well. White Zimbabweans aren't denied citizenship for not knowing the main indigenuous language in that country. Even though the white Zimbabweans as Rhodesians had clearly discriminated against the indigenuous majority in a way that Russians had never done in the Baltics. You did hear of Arvid Pelshe who was a long time Soviet Politburo member. Not bad considering ther size of Latvia with other Soviet republics. |

Why germany apologizes? He is not sucsessor of nazi germany. We dont ask apologize for Molotov Ribbetrop pact. We ask that you apologize for occupieing and murdering our nation. Is this really ard to understand?
And again - in Estonia were no such voteing - Estonia declared his independence as sucsessor of first Estonian Republic. And I must say that I dont really care what other ex Soviet republics are doing with their laws. One average russian speaker can easily make citizenexam and live his life as he wants. No one discriminates anyone. As I have told before with me or under me are working lot of russian speakers. We all treat them like everybody else. For me there is no difference is he russian, jew or swede. Even if he speaks estonian bad this is no problem - he at least tryes to speak it - most older russian speaers are getting angry if you try to speak with them in estonian. Damit they are living in the land wich is foreign for them - show some respect and learn language at least. |

Stalin was a Georgian from Georgia. Go see Saakashvili who is less of a democrat than Putin.
Estonia and Latvia had the highest standard of living in the USSR. Milions of Russians suffered under Communism. Communism's success could never have been achieved without the many non-Russian Communists. Conversely, Nazi Germany would never have succeeded to the degree it did without the support of many non-Germans like those found in Estonia and Latvia, who willingly served in the criminal SS units as opposed to non-SS ones. Contemporary Russia need not apologize to those who honor the SS legacy while discriminating against Russians in the present and communicating anti-Russian propaganda in the West. |
