The all-Russian medical congress has ended in Moscow on Saturday. President Putin met the forum participants in the Kremlin. He spoke of the existing problems in the field of medicine.
Putin said he believed that there must be no reduction in free medical care without due reason and that the state must provide at least a minimal level of health services.
Putin reminded that a great number of semi-legal private medical services firms have emerged lately. "In this sphere, we - I mean the state and all of us here - must certainly protect the interests of fundamental medical science in the broad sense of the word, and also make sure there is a certain number of essential health services of appropriate standards which the state must provide without fail," Putin said.
He also spoke of the importance of promoting medical insurance services.
