Yes, the winter had a lot to do with it, but why is everyone focusing on the perifrials (check the spelling). The pissing contest, as lily so aptly put it, is from the original statements trying to say who would win in a war between a China-Russian side vs. US-NATO. This won't happened under the present circumstances. As far as the Russian military being either full of supermen (as some would have you believe) and or a bunch of hungry, ill equiped, unmotivated, lazy losers is just as equally asine. Look at the North Koreans. That is probably the most backward country, yet the military is a constant threat to the more economically advanced south. It's all in the logistics and the will. Hey! Wait just one cotton pickin' minute there! Were you aiming that last statement at me? I haven't said a thing in this "string"! Now it IS my turn. No research, no statistics, just something like 42 years personal experience with one very crazy Russian ,my father in law for the last 30 of those years. Russians NEVER say "die"!

I'd really hate to see Russia-China vs US-NATO pissing contest on CNN or any other channel! Unless, that is, we select one representative from each group and let them "duke it out" or see who can water the farthest target. Guess what happens in such a contest if the wind "kicks" up? Rather than playing "Mine is BIGGER than Yours", how about trying to figure out ways to put pressure on NATO to admit it's no longer the entity it was created to be, but has no "morphed" into a "Shellyish" monster that needs to be "put down"!????

In refrence to your querry, I am Cat, the one from Florida. To help keep you straight, Lilly has green eyes, mine on the other hand are blue, shade depends on my mood! Also, (Lilly, bear with me here) I can purr, but rub my fur the wrong way, you'd better watch out for the claws!

I love people. I love learning about people. I am the constant, eternial optimist, believing that with enough effort, we can makes things turn out well.

One last thing. My aunt had a friend who did a study on the origins of swear words, strange, but true. According to her the following explaination of a much abused word on these boards is as follows:

This was placed over the doorways of brothels in England who were approved of by the crown. Might have been because they paid the crown a kickback, called taxes! The above explaination may or may not be true, however the anagram, you know memorizing the first letter of each word, might help you to remember how to spell it properly! If you only used it occasionally, no problem but "mad", you seem to use it in every post! I won't go in to the concept of oh say, fighter planes f---ing! I mean, how would this be accomplished? Would they give birth to gliders? One more thing, while I'm at it...
PLEASE, use some punctuation. Have mercy on us! Look up the definition of a "run on sentence" in a dictionary or even an elementary level grammer book. If you've been in the States since you were 10 I would assume you went to school, at some point. If they didn't teach you basic grammer and how to construct a proper sentence, you're right, our system of education REALLY "sucks"!

OOPS! forgot something, the rear portion of the human anatomy is sometimes referred to as a "butt", as in "kiss my fat white butt". Not trying to be mean, just thought I'd share that with you. I have a hard time with typos and oftentimes spelling. I appreciate it when someone helps me correct my oft repeated mistakes. I look less a fool when using the same words later!

sure made for an interesting read.

As for Madrussian, let's not change him too much Cat, we at least are getting a flash of humor out of him occasionally. If we change him too much, he will be humdrum and monotonous.

As for spelling and puctuation, I am a little more tolerant. Often people don't have the opportunity to complete their education due to unforseen circumstances, like have to go to work at an early age to help support their family. Continuing education, fortunately is available to all. I often take courses to better myself too.

Men are responsible for most of the war and oppression in the world today.

If women ran the governments of this world I think things would be different.

Perhaps there wouldn't be the need for "countries".

I certainly think that women are less likely to send their children to die in a war.
