Lilly, He reminds me a great deal of my father in law. He loves to "bluster and rant". One of his favorite past times is to see how many people he can intimidate. He loves to swear in Russian, keeps everyone here guessing! However, stand up to him and he becomes a totally different person! My husband also had a tendency toward "bluff & bluster", but after a few years of marriage realized this would get him nowhere & gain him nothing. It "runs in the blood" of this family. Out of my 3 children, my eldest daughter, Tanya, takes after her father's side of the family, in looks and appearance, but more importantly in temperment! It's taken a long time for me (and now her fiance) to teach her that there are constructive ways to disagree. Much better than destructive, where everyone gets angry and no one changes their minds! Are you getting the picture Madrussian? Can you picture this 5'3'', 18 year old girl, of German/Irish decendancy (yep, I have a temper too) taking on a 6'1'' Russian and his thouroughly Russian and Ukranian family? I can tell you, we had some battles "royale". I even learned from Grandma' Sokol(no she had no "c") about pulling out the rolling pin when your floor has just been scrubbed! Sure keeps the guys from tracking it up! Grandma' was only about 4'8'' and had raised something like 9 sons and 3 daughters ( I lose count). She pretty much knew all the "tricks"! Here we are nearly 30 years later, still married. If we could work out the differences to make a marriage work, it shouldn't be too difficult for strangers on a bulletin board to come to some "meeting of the minds"! How do you eat an elephant? one bite at a time. Same thing with learning about others. As I said before, we must celebrate the things make us unique and come to appreciate the ways in which we are all alike! Hey, madrussian, did you have or did you know a grandma' that cooked non-stop, scrubbed the floor on hands & knees (no mops for her), hung the clothes on the outside line, even in winter...(no dryer for her), baked the world's best breads, and told the greatest stories? Could she, standing a full foot or more shorter, control even the most stubborn and tempermental of men? Can you keep from smiling when you think about some of the things she said and did? How she always managed to make your "big, bad dad" look like a "little boy"? This was my husband's grandmother. She lived to be 97 and kept her family in line until the day she died. What a treat she was!! I must admit that Grandma' wasn't Russian, she came from a small village, somewhere in the Carpathian Mountains. Where ever it was, she had enough "spunk" for any 10 people! Can you picture her now? all 4'8", twin braids wrapped around the crown of her head (she never cut her hair), listening intently to what you had to say, arms crossed at her wist, then with a smile and firmness born of years experience, telling you to forget whatever it was. Can you actually say this doesn't bring even the slightest of smiles?
I know you HAVE to have a heart beating in there, somewhere! If so, there IS hope for you! Lilly, "tag team"? Cat Cat [This message has been edited by csockol (edited 09 December 1999).] [This message has been edited by csockol (edited 09 December 1999).] |

Cat, psst....come here! I have to tell you something! Let me cup my hand over your ear, sssshhhhh, don't tell anyone, it is a secret!!! ............
That certain someone is deliciously gorgeous, but looks menacing and dangerous with that oozie in his hand and battle fatigues he wears. He would be great for counter espionage. He has "special forces" written all over him. I would not want to mess with him....maybe. Just kidding, as usual! Remember, keep this to yourself, hush....<wink> remember we are a tag team. <smile> Regards, LillyNomad p.s. what ever happened to WildCat? Has he moved and settle in his new home? |

Cat:
You missed the mark honey. The dark brooding person I referred to was the object of our tag team. hint: please don't be "Mad" at me for saying this. <wink> p.s. Not that Wildcat is not "handsome". I don't know; never saw him. But I don't want to "chase" anyone. ;-) Regards, LillyNomad |
