Well it looks like all three sides are gearing up for another war.

The Muslims are not happy sharing half of Bosnia with the Croats and vice versa, the Serbs are dissatisfied with the way their lands were distributed and broken up in pieces.

Attrocities were comitted by all three sides. No party was innocent in this war, other than the dead.

It seems that UNPROFOR will have to stay there indefinetely.

A relative (a Serb from California) who is in Tuzla working as a translator for the Americans ($6,000 USD per month) is constantly having to watch his back and fear for his life, as there is such strong annimosity between all parties.

Will the Bosnian tapestry be splattered with blood again? It seems that it is a matter of time before the lid blows off again.

Hello.

I feel sorry to intervene, but there are some questions i would like to direct to the particints of the thread.

First of all i would like to state that i was absolutely confused then the bombardment of Yugoslavia begun.

I've been listening to the words of Mr. Clinton put live through BBC or NBC and felt muzzy for not being able to understand what is happening.

He told about the Yugoslav hangover of the communist empire which fell down with the collapse of USSR. And I could not understand what does it have to do with Yugoslavia never beeing a part of Warsaw pact or Union of Mutual Economic Help. Which even never was an ally of USSR after the WWII. Country, leaders of which could never be requested to come to Moscow (as it was usual about other communist states) because it was the only country in Central and Eastern Europe winning the Nazi Germany without the help of Soviet Union (all Soviet leaders since Hrustchev came to Belgrade themselves to show the respect Russia has for the Yugoslavs). Russia never ever had even one base in Yugoslavia.

He told about the ethnic cleansings done by Serbs (sic!!) but I still can not imagine a nation going to make a cleansing. (Then speaking about the misdeeds of the Albanians it was always the KLA who did the wrongdoings, but then speaking about those against the Albanians it was always the Serb atrocities. The whole nation was told to be a criminal)

He was talking about the danger of Pan-Serbian nationalizm, which take roots from the Tito era. But as far as I know Tito was not even a Serbian.

He was talking about the threat of Serb crimes in Europe but even during all the bombardments there was not even one terrorism act in Europe done by the Serbs (do you remember what happened then mr. Ojalan was arrested?).


I do not like mr. Milosevic.
I hate the nationalists in any form.
I do not like the communists as well.


But I feel asamed for my country whichgave a measure of hope to the Yugoslavs and afterwards letting the NATO bomb Yugoslavia.
I still do remember an old saw (sorry for the mistakes) in Yugoslavia: "Nas i rusa sto piatdesiatj millionov; nas bez rusa poltora kamiona"

Well so much said about my attitude.

My questions are:

how did it come to the collapse of Yugoslavia?
What were the reasons?

I have my own opinion about it but i would like to hear the one from the people who know more about this country.
