This morning I received a call from my son in Moscow with the latest news. Russia, is really in a turmoil this time!
Vladimir Putin has announced that the price of Vodka in Russia will be raised to 70 roubles per litre!!!!!!!! The people are ready to revolt! There is talk that the people will not vote for him as a result of this. Which is more important: a good president, or cheap vodka? What is this world coming to! Hello Lilly,
Maria Antnwet, the queen of France, went to the gallows for telling her breadless people to eat cake. Also, I think Putnin wants FIVE years of conscripted service from the young men!! I know how depressing it can be to spend years in military camps when you want to marry and have children. It is against nature. The English voted Churchill out after he helped win ww2. The USA voted out Bush after he helped win the Gulf war. Gene Gene |

Putin is new guard that loves his country who wants to bring pride and honour back to the Russian people. This takes time.
If the the Russian people are willing to give him a chance and see in him one that represents everything they stand for, he will bring back Russia to a world power status. Of course, the West would not want that, instead they would like to see a puppet running the Kremlin and Russia. He has been called a little grey cardinal of the Kremlin, but I believe he is a little batushka who wants to bring the Russian people back to the pulpit. Putin's experience in the KGB has taught him what the West is and what they stand for, and how to withstand them. He has dealt with the Chechnyian problem with an iron fist and which is the only way to deal with terrorists. To use a favorite Western phrase, there is always going to be "collateral damage". We are all sorry to see that happen, but that is the price one has to pay to make this planet safer for everyone. Perhaps the reasons he has raised the price of vodka could be: -to generate revenue -to make the people spend the money on food -to keep vodka out of children's hands Russian politics needs new blood. The old style of having 60 and 70 year old members of the communist bourgeois who have become comfortable through corruption is over. The West will have to deal now with people of modern ideas but with old values. But then, that is just my opinion. LillyNomad |

Lilly girl, e-mail me at chatsol@yahoo.com
I'm up and running! Forgot your e-mail address, so I figured I'd find you here. By the way, everyone knows that a good stiff belt is more important than good government any day of the week! Just kidding folks, don't get angry! Cat |
