I am an American and I don't hate Russians. During the cold war I feared and hated Russia. Around 1960 I was an American Carrier and we picked up some Russian solders lost at sea. We were suprised to find that they were just like us and they had their family photos, etc.
They only wanted food, fuel and charts, but they were thousands of miles from land.
I would like to see Russia get their act together and become a great but nice industral power. I think you are doing the right thing in Chechna.

you would have to live in the USA to understand why americans hate not only russians but almost everybody else. I am from Serbia but I live in USA now. I came to US five years ago. Propaganda in this country is stronger than enywhere else in the world(I have lived in Germany and Croatia). Americans do not learn world history in their high schools or elementary schools like we do,they have no knowledge of world geography or foreign languages. Their education is very bad and low(I speak three languages and latin). When people are so uneducated it is very easy to make them believe in anythin that media serves them. They do not even listen to their own local news channels. American understanding of politics is also very poor(considering majority of people). They talk about things they know nothing about. USA is the only country that takes taxes from your paychecks, taxes your food, electricity and gas services, personal property taxes on your car or house, but you do not get anything in return. If you cannot afford a doctor you die(hospitals for people whithout insurance are worse than european hospitals for cows and pigs), good education is almost impossible to afford and even if you do get loans for school you end up paying them for the next 20 years. Cities are destroyed, ugly, full of crime -ST. Louis, Nashville, Detroit, New York, Chicago-we are not talking about rich areas. There are only few nice cities in the whole US. European Amsterdam, Vienna, Hamburg, Milan just to name a few are something Americans can only dream about. And yet, they still believe their country is better than others, because they are the nation of obedient robots thaught to pay taxes, obey and not ask questions. They never show their destroyed cities, thousands of homeless and handicapped people roaming the streets of the cities, their youth that is FAT and drug users in their discos. I can send you some pictures of their cities and their FAT citizens( over 50%of theri adult population is FAT. And they still think that they are better than the others. I told you, Americans hate Russians because they do not know anything even about they own country yet alone some other countries. They Know ONLY what they see on TV while eating their disgusing fast food, chips and coke on their while concealing their fat bodies with cheap clothes from K-Mart, Target etc.

Hey, Serbia06,
You are a funny guy, mabe you should write for American Sitcom TV show. It would be funnier than anything we have now.
I have never seen myself from such a viewpoint before.
Before the bombing I asked some friends what they thought about bombing Serbia. The men said, "Bomb the Commie *******s. How are the Atlanta Braves doing this week?." The women said, "I don't care who they bomb as long as they don't bomb us." I didn't meet one person that was in the least bit intrested in some little, far away country with a leader whose name defies pronouncing.
Excuse my English as I am an American school drop out.

I'm an Amie and I'm proud to have Russian friends. I even want to experience Russia first hand to benifit my outlook of life. you should get out more and meet the people who count for the years to come. Ask an 7th grader and they'll say whats wrong with a Russian they have cool beats?
Learn to form more rounded opions . \\\perhaps you'd like to come stay in my part of USA for awhile. I just may be able to salvage your view of us
ps why are YOU here if you hate it so much?

For the past (almost) 30 yrs. I've been married to a man, who could at times be called "messy". He also happens to be the father of my 3 children and granfather to my 6 grandchildren. I find it confusing that I should attribute any of the things he does to irritate me to the fact that his grandfather came from Russia (and was, as we were told, an Aristocrat)and his grandmother from the Carpathian Mountains! That would be the same as him blaming my annoynig or bad habits on my Irish, Scot or German heritage.
Well, he does, sort of...says the Irish part gets mad easily and the German never forgets or maybe it's the other way around. Anyway, I guess what I'm saying is we ALL need to get over it and start building bridges instead of walls!

Cathy

TO GENE P. - of course honey that your friends were not interested in "some small far away country". that country happens to have richer history than yours and people there know where they came from. Were your ancestors one of those criminals, wh0res, killers and thiefs that Europe sent to THE NEW LAND or new world called USA now? Again I am interested in world politics because that is what is the part of our life also and believe it or not IS affecting all of us. the Reason why your friends are not interested is like I already said in my first post LACK of education, knowledge of world history and GEOGRAPHY. On the other hand I am interested even in politics and events in African countries because I DO know their history too, their locations, EVEN their capitol cities no matter how small or far away those countries are. SEE, why are you objecting when I said that you guys are uneducated? When you said it yourself!!! I have never met people that are not interested in anything. HOw can you live your whole lives talking and reading only about American sports (not even world), food, women or men, bars, drinks, drugs and make-up. Americans usually read only sport's pages in newspaper, or when they have cable TV they watch Porn or other movies instead of Discovery channel, or some other news channels. Even the ones that pretend to know some things usually have no idea what they are talking about. they read few things in local newspapers so they would not look like complete idiots. And YOU said it yourself- your friend can talk about sport or something and that's it! SAD!
