What is very amusing to me here to read is how many Americans like to talk about Russia, Chechen war, Russian problems - make noncence as usuall comments about Russia. Speak and worry about your own dam country! Or what America has no problems? What do you people know about us Russians? ---- What ever they told you on CNN. What do you Americans know about the world anyway! I have never met such ignorant ruthless people in my life!!

I was not sure that I should reply as it may be me not minding my own business.I know that we as Americans sometimes stick our noses where they do not belong.Sometimes this is just the direction that our government takes us just as I am sure your government over the years has taken your people. PLease do not blame everything on the American people. True most times we back our government and it's decisions but not always. Most of the times our interventon in other countries saves a lot of lives. Would Russia be speaking German if we hadn't interveined in the Second World war?
Would Russia be free from Communism if the United States not been there to oppose it.

as I have been to Russia right after the Moscow bombings and I understand the Russian government standing up and putting a stop to the rebels. I feel the main international job of the U.S. government is to export freedom not to try to tell every country how to fix their domestic problems

America trying to export freedom? What kind of freedom are you talking about? Look what you did to Serbia. You destroyed a 1400-year-old country, you bombed monasteries and churches that are on the World Heritage List (not that you would know what that is). And your "smart" bombs not only hit the wrong targets, they hit the wrong countries - Macedonia once and Bulgaria five times. Now I don't want to sound anti-American or anti-Western, but you have to admit that Americans have no idea what their government's doing and why they're supporting it. You are like sheep who follow the shepherd. The truth is that your economy is overheating, but that's no surprise. It can't last forever.
Oh, and one more thing. Your intervention has not saved a lot of lives recently. If you are so powerful, why did you let one million people in Rwanda die? Why did you let the Turks kill the Kurds? What about England and Northern Ireland? You think that's fair? America chose Kosovo and Serbia because there was money in that conflict. Americans were selling guns to both the Serbs and the Kosovars, keeping the war going on. I mean, can you deny that the Kosovars were NOT paid by the US army?
I read somewhere that there's an oil supply canal from Russia to Western Europe that runs under the Balkans. We all know that the US wants to sell its oil to Western Europe, too. What a great idea - while the Balkans were a war zone, the oil from Russia was stopped. (hint, hint)
I don't know if all that is true or not. It's just a theory, and there are lots of theories. The thing is that something much bigger was going on in Serbia, something beyond "saving lives", and pretending to be a guardian angel for the Albanians.
I still think the Americans are nice people...just not smart enough to be a world leader. The mistakes you made in Serbia, Bosnia, and the one you are about to make in Russia, can be very "unhealthy" for your position in the world.

Finding something amusing in what Americans say about Russia(people?)is not a path to understanding. Few people in the West talk about Russia; rather they try to talk to the Russian people. Of all the people on earth, Americans seem more able to understand and to have empathy with those who are suffering, and the Russian people are suffering greatly. Most Americans speak to that pain being inflicted upon a people who really do not deserve it. True, there are those in the West who are ignorant, and their numbers are increasing daily. But should you let their ignorance cause you to conduct yourself in an ignorant manner? It is also very that there are many ruthless people in the West. But is that not also true the world over? The problems facing the Russian people are of a devilish complexity, and by themselves the Russian people cannot solve them. It is going to take the united effort of several Western countries working very closely with all of Russia to ease the suffering and maybe bring some worthwhile resolution to the staggering difficulties dogging the land. Russian represents a very real threat to the entire gloal community, seeing that it still possesses those weapons which all of mankind fear. Therefore, it is the business of every person on this planet as to what Russia does. A nationalistic short-sightness has little to offer in the way of solution; even though it does present an opprotunity for others to see into the mind of certain of the Russian people. The anger and/or bitterness displayed in your post is of little value if you do not turn it toward finding a desirable environment both locally and nationally. Charging an entire nation of people with foolishness or idiocy in an attempt to uphold some ideal can only lead to an insensitivity as to one's own and to others' real state of being. It does not appear to me that all Russian people are of this mind-set. It is correct to assume that the Russianm people are proud and strong, and ought to be independent of any outside influence or coercion. However, the simple fact is that what they are and what they should be has little to do with the reality of their current situation. They will be influenced. They will be coerced. They will be lied to. They will be robbed. They will be mocked and put to shame. They might even lose their country to the fiery enemies from without and within. This is why I've stated that President Putin just might be the best chance Russia has had in many years. The man has some steel in his character, and it just might be passed on to the people. If it is, they have a shot at a future. If not; then they're lost. Lets hope it is the first and not the latter.

To Rusboy99 & Tangra: Perhaps, this would be a proper time to study some real history-that which lies outside of the main-stream of propaganda. The sweeping generalizations made in both posts are truely mind-boggling in their lack of rationality. Should not each of you state clearly the point of your posts before making such far-reaching assertions? Are we not cross-threading the military needs with the economic and political needs of vastly different countries and cultures? It is more enlightening to say that the Western military establishment is being used globally to service the wishes of very powerful international cooperations and the international banking community. Claiming that a modern military is used to guard and secure the populace against alien dangers is next to being moronic. It should be apparent to any individual with an iota of common-sense that any and all militaries will serve that and those who feed them. Why should the power elite be even remotely concerned about the death of a few million people? The reality of it, in their minds, is that there is that many fewer mouths to consume the available resources. And if you're after billions in filthy lucre who gives a damn about a thousand or two thousand year-old edifice? There are only a few things of antiquity that can effectiuvelym serve the present and/or the future. Freezing one's mind in the picayune culture and its attendant beliefs will hardly prepare one to deal with matters on a global level. The Capitalistic war being conducted upon the peoples of the world transends national, cultural, racial, ethnic, moral, religious, and political beliefs. The ethos is simply the fulfilling of monsterous GREED. Forget that fact and you just appear stupid.

It is ironias to me that some Americans think that the fall of comunism in Russia had something to do with them or their country. By the way we beat your calculations by ten years in that department! So where the hell you Americans were then! I tell you where watching and hoping that Germans defeat Russia, and than cut a deal with him. Because you hated Russia and communism more than Hitler. It is Russia that won WWW 2 and freed Europe from nazis, saved the Jews with 30 million of our lives. America got involved when it was to be determined how much of Europe would have being Russian, not because you cared about the Russian people. Second thought your country and your army does not know how to fight wars. You Americans are cry babies, afraid of feeling pain, or going through rough times, not to speak about war.That is why you did not go in in Kosovo-because the Serbs would have kicked your butts so well and you military knows that.After all if your army is comprised mostly off all the minorities blacks and hispanics that are opressed in you country in everyway possible.How would they fight for America when they really hate it to, and are in the army just for the money.So who would fight then the "whight officers"- of whom there are so few. You also didn't mention that NATO forces bombed Montenegro, and not by accident, but deliberately. Montenegro is Serbia's neighbour but a different country, with a government opposed to Milosevic (which has a narrow majority only). Could have been NATO's ally, only they were too STUPID to know even the basic geography or politics of the area, and so they bombed their own ally - and almost certainly guaranteed that the country will vote pro-Milosevic in the next elections.
