A new development has emerged in the story of the Kursk disaster.

A german newspaper has leaked a story it claims comes direct from an FSB (the former KGB) inside source.

The story claims that the Kursk was hit in a "friendly fire" incident during exercises. The sub is claimed to have been hit by a missile fired by the Peter The Great - the flagship of the Russian Navy. The Admiral of The Northern Fleet was on board the Peter The Great at the time. It is alleged that Putin was informed shortly afterwards, that the Kursk had been hit and everyone on board was dead.

I have no backup for the source of this story, but Reuters are running it as a possible theory.

My thoughts are with the sailors at the time of the tragedy. BRAVE YOUNG MEN SERVING THEIR COUNTRY.

Whatever the cause, their families deserve the answer, along with the rest of us!

if Putin had been informed about it and the admirals knew about it , is strange that western help was soughtto help save the survivors if any.
Has Norway said anything supporting or contradicting this report.

Question

If it was sunken after missile hit what's the nature of that long scrape and horizon ragged hole in the board? Can it be such a rough leg-pull? I don't know. But all things named as leakage from FSB, FBI, CIA and the like are complete rubbish.

Yesterday Il'ya Klebanov said what SOS signals registered couldn't be originated from Kursk.
