A close election reveals the flaws in precision. In retrospect, the mechanical voting apparatus should be standardized nationwide and engineered for achieving a 1/1000 percent or better relative standard deviation.

As things stand, two weak candidates failed to galvanize the voters to speak unambiguously.

The fairly rapid turning of legal wheels is cartoonish; judges pop out like the birds in cookoo clocks, and lawyers titter like hysterical chipmunks.

Obviously, the most ideal candidate for president was Colin Powell, who didn't run (there would have been NO ambiguity on the part of the voters). And the most dynamic candidate running was Ralph Nader, who was not allowed into televised debates. If Bush wins the office, then Powell will at least be (in all likelihood) the Secretary of State, which might lend some rational form to foreign policy.

I agree, it's the best we can hope for. He's an accomplished professional with a strong record. Let's hope that Bush hasn't promised the job to Ms Harris in exchange for her Rulings.

Florida Secretary of State Harris was following the Florida statutes, the rule of law, unlike the Democratic Florida State Supreme Court judges who legislated instead of making a ruling on a point of law.

I know that objective reality is a problem with certain people who post here.

Why, is George W Bush posting here? He's the guy who denied Lon Cheney's heart attack was a heart attack. In fact, Bush is in denial about a lot of facts, period.

As we are about to see. I give you President Elect George W Bush - bring in the clown.

Al Gore stumps on the platform of honesty, he is not like Clinton.
Al Gore says he doesn't care who wins but he wants every americans vote to count.
Al Gore blocks Republican votes made by people who clearly stated who they wanted for president, meanwhile he trys to guess that the ones who didn't mark for president must have wanted Gore.
Al Gore wants to stop the military votes.
Al Gore is an honest man and I love him.

Hello Nonson,
I am not much of a chatter but when something burns at me I like to express my feelings somewhere and where better than a world bulletin board.
I came to this board when I saw the gentle peace loving West acting like Nazis and attacking and killing the citizens of a free Europeon Country. He who lives by the sword will die by the sword. The same for missiles. The people of Serbia had no way to defend themselves against overwhelming Nato forces.
I came to this board when Nato threatened to cross Russia's borders to help gangs of theif's, murders, kidnappers causing mayhem in Russia from Chechnea.
I came to this board when I saw the man I almost voted for president tryng to steal an election and lying about it. I feel much better when I am heard by someone. Al went from a hero to a zero last month. I really didn't care who won but when I see a cheater it makes me mad.
Gene in sunny Florida, where only our votes count and count and count.
