Hello all,
I need help with how to address an envelope for delivery to Russia. I have gotten conflicting stories that you need to use Cyrillic fonts and write the address in reverse order from how we write it in the United States. In other words, you need to put the zip code first, then city and city region, street name, building & apartment number, name of the person I am sending to with their last name first. I got this information out of "The Russian Way" by Zita Dabars. Another person has told me that I don't have to use Cyrillic fonts, but the order of zip code, street address, etc. has to be as I had described it. Finally, I have also heard that you need to put the recipient's name and address on the left side of the envelope and put the sender's name and address on the right side. This is opposite from how it is done in the United States, so I want to make sure before I send my letter that I do it correctly by Russian postal system standards. Is there anyone here who can tell me definitely how to address my envelopes bound for Russia? I am an American if that helps you any in describing how things are done differently in Russia than in the United States. Thank you in advance. Regards, Mike (mike_2002) |
