Thumbs up

Dear Member,

Thank you for your suggestion. Please start a thread or two about Russian History in the Open Forum . If your response is great, then we will add the topic as a forum. And, if there is not a huge interest, then please feel free to continue posting in the Open Board.

Thank you,
Admin

I second the motion, and wonder if we might have one bulletin board devoted to classical composers?

Thumbs up Yes, for History Forum

Please, make a Russian History Forum on Russia.com

It's a great idea. There are already several threads on history spread out through different boards.

Its appearance will generate more interest in Russian history and more people will post topics there.

thank you

Thumbs up Yes please... Russian history!

Good idea: a Russian history forum! I have a suggestion... most members of Russia.com live outside Russia. Maybe those non-Russian members can tell something about the historical relations between Russia and their own country?

My country (the Netherlands) had a lot of contacts with Russia since czar Peter the Great. Pjotr Weliki visited Amsterdam (and London) to learn shipbuilding. When he returned to Russia, Peter invited Dutch sailors for building up the Russian navy and Dutch engineers for the
construction of dykes and canals for his new capital St. Petersburg. A lot of Dutch words were incorporated into the Russian language, e.g. FLOT comes from VLOOT (fleet), etc. Russian craftsmen began to learn the Dutch language to get a window on Western Europe.
100 Years later Anna Paulovna - the daughter of czar Paul and sister of the czars Alexander I and Nicolas I - married the Dutch crown prince (after she refused to marry Napoleon).
Even nowadays there are numerous Dutch language-students in Russia.

Ok! Ok! One history forum coming up! But, please bear with me, I am trying to take this request on myself. So, it may take me a few tries before I can get a new forum up right.

So, the History forum will be located under Culture. Should there be a footer? Is plain old "history" a good enough title? Please post your additional comments here.
