The tech people at VCI wrote cascading style sheets [CSSs] to make the format on all their discussion boards uniform. When IE6 came out, the interpretation of these style sheets by IE was a bit off the original format. If you use Opera, Mozilla, a Mac, or any version of IE before 6.0 [I'm not sure about Netscape], the text is aligned to the left.
Don't even bother asking VCI about the problem. It's been in existence for years and they've never bothered changing things. The administrator seldom responds to moderators let alone regular members.
