I would like to know if moderators are supposed to be objective or they can let personal feelings and political views to interfere witht heir objectivity and they can insult a person? Here is the response in question from BenCA to me this morning from this thread: http://www.russia.com/forums/printth...threadid=3850:

nina, be a better person and leave it be!
just like you are, she's voicing her opinion about this, i don't see her attacking your personally in last two posts. You’re attacking her just because she has a different opinion, leave with it.

AS a moderator, Do you reserve a right to insult me by asking me to be A BETTER PERSON? DO YOU THINK IT WAS APPROPRIATE?

If this behavior by a moderator is OK with the Administration, I will accept it. But it is my suggestion that they should stay nutural or not be moderators.

Please advise me of your polocies as to the subject of moderator's objectivities. I appreciate your response in advance.

Sincerely, Ninotchka

Dear Ninotchka!

I think BenCA had no intensions to insult you. "Be a better person" -- there is a common phrase in Russian "Áóäü ëó÷øå (âûøå) ýòîãî" that means "be more generous then other part of discussion and forgive his/her wrong beleives to show your opponent your strength".

With respect,
Yu_Jing

This same problem has been an on-going pain in the backside for several years. Moderators(even Administrators) lack the ability to be objective. Their personal interest and VCI sites become one and the same, and they seem unable to separate them even when there is a firestorm over it. I'm having the same problem right now on Ukraine.com; and have had identical problems on S.com., M.com, and T.com. There are just certain people that moderators of the VCI sites will not treat fairly. Doc W posted a his opinion on it several months ago which was hard-hitting and to the point. No one seemed to give a damn so he left, as has many others.

poor nonson...

In various threads you complain about the scary, unreasonable moderator on Ukraine.com, who doesn't let you defend yourself against visiting Muslims on that board.
BULL
You have turned Ukraine.com into your personal battleground against Islam, you sexually harrass members again and again, spread evident racism...etc..
You are fluent enough in English to defend yourself without the above-mentioned methods. I have always respected you and your posts but as I said before, I will not let you, under any circumstances to turn Ukraine.com into a racist breeding ground.
I dislike Islam, fully support the US in retaliation against Taliban and Afghanistan government, but I refuse to be so blind as to destroy Ukraine.com with my views.
You keep on reminding people that you were the one to suggest me for the Moderation post on Ukraine.com, I thank you for it..but you must remember why you have suggested my name...did you expect me to agree with you 100% ??

Unfortunately, and to the detriment of Ukraine.com(and maybe to all VCI sites) Irinka and a number of other moderators are polarized to the point that they cannot function objectively or intelligently. The owners of VCI ought to realize from past experiences that such inflexibility by Administrators and Moderators is a destructive element that can bring the sites to an end. Or do the owners believe the lost of hundreds of members due to other causes?
