I wish to protest about the remark made to me by the member "Apache", viz:

>> If you can pull yourself away from the Child Pornography news groups for just a moment <<

I believe this constitutes not merely a personal attack, but a libel which would be actionable in law against both the member and the service which permitted him to broadcast these remarks.

I would be grateful if you would take action to remove this post (in the thread "It must be America's fault" - Open Board section, today's date) within 24 hours.

Failing which I shall seek legal remedy for redress.

I also note that this board has condoned homophobic abuse of members by leaving such remarks on the board unchallenged, and I request that you reconsider your policy on this matter as a matter of urgency, as it leaves you open to further legal challenges I feel sure you would wish to avoid.

I look forward to reading directly below this message a foul-mouthed stream of homophobic and racist abuse from the offending member.

I have made screen-capture grabs of the messages concerned which may be called in evidence.

I have been remiss these last few days as I have had some personal matters to take care of. I have already deleted the reference made by Apache to you regarding SODOMY. I am going through the strings now with a fine tooth comb.

The matter will be looked after immediately.

Sorry for the delay.

Regards,
Lilly

Thanks, Lilly

Talking What do you want me to do with you?

The eh part is poor english. Libel is the correct spelling. I think he was in a hurry.

I noticed a common error in spelling on the boards.
Lose and loose. Lose=to lose 20 lbs.Loose=gee i lost 20 lbs. and my pants are loose.

I majored in English and when I post quickly I make typos too. I am fastidious with spelling and often have to go back and edit my post.

To others, English is their second language and that can't be helped. It is declasee to look down on those who can't spell properly.

Now as for Americans and Canadians, there should be no reason nor excuse.....but as I said typos happen to even the best of us.

One female member thoroughly insuted a russian man who poured out his heart on the boards. His english was adequate and his message was profound. Said female had nothing nice to say to this young man (who was disenchanted with the boards after that), insulting his prose and his spelling. The funny thing is ...said female has made so many mispellings of her own...oh yes a few of us have noticed. So she is quick to put down, lacks compassion and is too quick to judge.

Talking

I only mentioned the spelling thing since Laughing Boy has been chasing my rear all around this board looking for different ways to attack me. When he can't find anything or is unable to answer or understand the questions, he changes the topic to my Brit-English spelling of words Spelling and orthographical mistakes would normally be a no-no as a gainsay, but since I'd been called to account, the chance was too good to resist

Y'see that's the trouble with spell-checkers - they're not moron-proof, and if you produce a typo that's a different but extant word, they put their blessings on the junk you've written

I agree that maybe "eh" is not literary English, but discussion-boards are not necessary a literary medium :-)

Your libels were removed by moderators, because you crossed the line. That was all I ever asked for, and having got it, I'm quite content, but thanks for your concern. It establishes that there are rules for discussion here which apply to everyone, yourself included.

Have a nice day, "Apache".
