I got a request from my beau to cook some 'north american' meals. Ha ha...ok so I thought of tacos, poutine, some salmon dishes, etc.
Can you buy stuff for making tacos (ie: refried beans, seasoning, taco shells, etc.) in Russia? I would think so, but in any store? [Edited by glock_girl on 2nd April 2001 at 09:28] |

mexican food ingredients? oh god, if ONLY we could get them easily in Moscow! I make my own... I can use Armenian "lavash" flat bread to make burritos... you can buy the uncooked beans, tomatoes, sour cream, parsley, etc in the markets. Chilli sauce you can hunt out in stores.
But tacos - no hope, take them with you! You CAN get avocados easily for making guacamole :-) Dr W. |

thanks for reminding me... I am heading back home to Moscow on Monday, so I raided the London supermarkets for "Old El Paso" products today (along with that stuff that no Brit can live without, even in Moscow - Marmite! :-) BTW, a strange thing you cannot find in Moscow (at least, *I* can't find it - anyone else know?) is peanut butter...

Yah, I know the peanut butter situation!
When I lived in Germany I couldn't find it. The best place for me to look was on the US Bases there. But the only peanut butter available was the sugary kind, and not the natural stuff. I suppose I will be packing some of that when I go to Russia also. Hmmm...thanks for the tip ![]() |

I never understand that sugary peanut-butter - who is it made for, it's horrible??!
I'm safely back in Moscow now, with all kinds of little goodies like Curry Paste, and jars of "Marmite" :-) But no peanut-butter - watching the post-New Year Waistline! Dr W. |
