Smile Famous food

CastleStormer-
Thank you so much for posting your reply. I found it very interesting. Had no idea that Russians are as hooked on Micky D's as some of these Americans are. Fortunately, I am not one of them. I can't stomach the stuff! Guess I really shouldn't be surprised though as the "Grease Monster's" filthy fingers are very far reaching! And also, "Piva" is beer? Phonetically is it "pee-vah"? Did you have any idea about "Sisika" that Velu mentioned? By the way-you know these things how? Are you formerly from Russia or have you been a visitor to the country? Am curious if the countryside is as beautiful as some places in the US. Again thank you for posting as there does not seem to be much activity out there other than yourself and a few postings for Batgirl. While I have your attention, do you have any information on any of my other postings? I would appreciate any help that you could provide me with. Thank you in advance and thanks for the dose of culture awareness!

Well Keni, let me field a few of your questions in no particular order.

The word "пиво" in Russian is P-E-V-O and pronounced "piva"; and yes it is beer. I have no idea what sisika is and am too lazy to whip out a Russian dictionary and look it up today.

I know this because I am an American who speaks moderate Russian and does orphanage work in Russia. I live in Dallas.

The countryside is amazingly beautiful..especially Siberia. It is a gorgeous country.

You are right about the activity on this forum. This place used to be awesome years ago, but everyone has left. Now it is as slow as traffic through Chernobyl.

I can't answer your other posts because I am not into hockey. But will definitely answer any question you might have that I can.

Smile Mickey D's?

Hey CastleStormer!
Oh no , Mr. Bill! I look to Russia and find a Dallas Cowboy! EEK! Just kidding, of course! I come from the great state of Ohio and our only notariety are the Ohio State Buckeyes (Gator bait) Our other teams are, as you know The Cleveland Browns up North and The Cincinnati Bengals down South. Not much to rave about either direction. Most people around here are either die-hard Buckeye fans, are into football, or big Cleveland Indian fans. Almost everyone has a team, and here am I a major hockey fan in a sea of balls. I say, "Drop the puck!" I don't really keep up with football either but keep an ear open to a little bit of everything as I am up at 4:30 every morning and watch ESPN and have my coffee (no Starbucks). I really appreciate your replies. It's always nice to get a little dose of culture. I especially found the pics of Mc Donald's interesting! Will show those around! Truthfully, everyone wants to know more about how others live and go about their day. I hope to (somehow) be able to visit Russia and would also like to visit my mother country of Germany as well. Another on my list is most definetly Ireland. I see pictures and think I have to experience it myself! How did you get into the profession that you are currently in? It sounds to me as if it is not only adventurous, but a rewarding endeavor as well! Good for you! Thanks again for the info. and keep in touch!

Smile Favorite Russian Foods

CastleStormer-

Hi! You replied to me a while back that "piva" was the Russian word for beer. If you have ever heard of the radio hosts "Bob and Tom" then you will probably understand that I want to know what the Russian word is for "boobs". Because as we know," Bob likes boobs and beer!" LOL! Thanks! This could serve a very funny purpose!

"Боб любит пиво и груди"

Bob likes beer and boobs.

Bob lyubeet peeva ee groody.

I remember feeling sad that some of the best exports we Americans were sending to Russia were things like "Baywatch" and McDonald's. No wonder so many of them don't like us. They think we are all a bunch of war-mongering, inbred, dumbass hillbillies. And no wonder when they get a picture of America from MTV. And now they know that Bob likes beer and boobs.

Famous Food

Hi CastleStormer!

Thanks for your reply! It is funny to us as an inside as joke. Do Russians have a sense of humor? Hope so. That's a pretty important quality! And yes, it is sad that they are under the impression that we are all war-mongers. But I can see where they arrive at that conclusion when we are all represented by leadership the likes of George Bush. Thanks again!

It's not just Russia. Much of the world is being invaded by American fast foods. Meanwhile, NY is banning saturated fat in restaurants.
