I never thought of that. But as far as I know black caviar is much richer that red (and considerably more expensive too...)

Here's a story- I was in Saint Petersburg one night and red caviar was on the menu for starters at the Pulkovskaya Hotel (anybody else been there?). However none of my friends would touch it so i tried some for myself just for the experience. Rather oily I must say. Upon discovering it I became rather fond of caviar so my friends suggested to eat their portions of caviar as well! I wisely refused.

As my friend usually remarks when I serve caviar and salted salmon with bliny and appetizers: "It's the way you live. One must be born into it to eat it like that."

Cool

I have eaten a lot of caviar in Russia, but most i liked the black caviar, the red is ok, but by far i prefer the black one.

It was part of breakfast, lunch and dinner :-) almost every day and i took a few cans of good black caviar with me back to holland to keep the taste in memory untill i go back to russia again.................

Also i heard some Russian wisdom, like that black caviar is good for ladies, for fertility hehe or was my fiancee joking?

I don't think that good red caviar should be too oily at all. I would have taken everyone's portions!!!

That recipe sounds very good Shamrock.
