I came from the mixed family. Now,on my father's side,I can trace my roots for six generations. They're Tatars.Crimean.On my mother's side,it gets a little confused. They're Ukrainians, and from what I could gather,Zaporoz'e Cossaks. Can anyone tell me,or point me at the right direction, were's the last name "Ryaboshtan"(spotted pants) came from? No matter how I'd formulate my question,my grandfather would come up with some sort of a fairy tell or another.Any Ukies over here? With some REAL knowlege?

Akhmetbek!
PLEASE post this on Ukraine.com in the genealogy board, there is a wonderful person named Hannia, she has already helped countless families to find each other. Try to post some birth dates and last names there.
Good luck on your search! ![]()

It's so weird!
My father was abandoned by his biological father who was from Ukraine. I never asked for my biological grandfathers name, because I was afraid to hurt my grandmother. My grandmother became pregnant back in 1959 with my father. She was 19, young and dumb. The guy was married. Bad, bad, bad. So, my grandmother married another man who adopted my father, giving my father his last name. It's amazing how we all have roots going back to Russia or Ukraine!
