I wonder if anyone would know of the last name LASOWA located somewhere near Sasson in the Ukraine area which was part of the Austrian Hungarian empire before 1914. Her mothers name was Helen Zuk. Juanna(Joanna?) Lasowa emigrated to the U.S. in 1912.
Thanking you........................Count Woland |

According to Ellis Island Records, the Original Ship's Manifest/handwritten copy reads that Joanna's mother was Olympia Lasowa. Joanna lists herself as Ruthenian/Ukrainian. Looks like she was emigrating from Galicia/Halychyna> Austro Hungarian Empire. I suspect that the village name was transliterated incorrectly. Could be Lassow???? The L on her surname looks very much like the first letter of village name. I am not convinced the village name is Sasson. I need to take a magnifying glass to that manuscript and don't have one handy in the office. Will get back to you later on this. |

LASOWA
Greetings;
I must make a sincere apology for not replying sooner but my computer crashed last year with all my files on it-then a second computer which I managed to get hold of also went down with a hard disk failure. As a result until the end of March I was off line. I am still trying to find all my lost addresses and I managed to finally find my Russia.com one. I'll be in touch sometime the end of the week or next week. Again my sincere apologies for not replying sooner; Count Woland |
