Does anyone have any information on the Stasyszen's? A friend informed me that I had a relative immigrate to Sault Ste Marie, Michigan, USA. This is what was given. I am trying to find out if there are any other relatives who live in Russia or anywhere in Europe.

The sibilants make it a tough transliteration/sounds like from Cyrillic to Latin Alphabet. Rusniak/Rusyn/Lemko was/is a micro-ethnic Ruthenian group. Lemkos lived in what was the Historical Province of Eastern Galicia/Halyczyna (in Ukrainian), administered by ethnic Poles for the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Today Lemkivsczyna is only a memory in SE Poland. The key to your research is EXACT place of origin. If you are having difficulty w/list, I can help you. Just provide me w/ancestor's given name and place where did he/she settled upon immigration. ![]() |
