Student guy i think its Polish Kasowski the y may be added when in Ukrain, Belaruss or Russia sometimes also in usa cause the americans has easier saying "hey kasowsky come here" (instead of Kasowski) often hear it in movies with -sky instead of -ski...theres thoose who lived many generations in immigrant country..that think their ancestors are russian when its realy Polish cause russia ruled poland 1795-1918 some off u must also search in Ukrain or Belaruss cause these are old polish lands where many poles lived pre ww2 thers still some 1-3 million poles there maybe theres your cousins...Also in Prussia Slask(Germany) and Galizia (Austria-Hungary)...registers

if its jewish u would proly know, theres jews who was asimilated poles..as they say when u shake a polish family tree there will fall down a jew from it...search for polish last names theres a guy namned Hoffman something he answers for free search on the internet..

same for u Swan poniedzielski is typical polish but not typical among poles u should search in the internet theres a good engine where last polish names shows which citys in poland these names today live cousins etc...u must search either in Polish register or if he lived in Ukrain or Belarus...Could be Lithuania too there lived and still does live many poles example in Vilnius 90% was polish pre ww2..

search polish last names here:
http://www.pgsa.org/nazw_index.htm
send him a mail too..

http://www.Poland.com
http://www.infoukes.com Ukraina info

thoose with endings like:
-witz is often jewish often Poland-Ukrain
Belaruss-Lithuania-Russia most East Europe..
-cki often Poland-Ukrain
-wicz -cuk often Poland-Belaruss
-ski often Poland-Belaruss-Ukrain
or -sky but this is changed to russian-belaruss-ukrain prononciation..sometims Anglo countrys too...

also surnames like Schnider,Sommer,Engel,Berger etc german last names may be polish ancestor cause off the german immigration and mix that been for a long time in western Poland..
