Hello, everybody!

My name is Andrey and I come from Irkutsk, Russia.
This is about 40 mls north of Lake Baikal in Eastern Siberia.

I am happy to see that so many people have keen interest in Russia. It is also very interesting to understand how my country is perceived from outside though I do have an idea having been abroad quite a few times myself.

There are things about Russia that I feel proud of, some things make me feel ashamed but we are where we are and I would be happy to contribute to your understanding of today's Russia.

The first time I heard of Irkutsk wasn`t in a geo class but
reading Jules Verne`s Michael Strogoff.....
