Hello to everybody. I'm from a city called Sheffield in England. I found this site by accident the other night whilst looking for sites connected with Russian history and Hockey teams. I'd be very appreciative if anyone knows ofany websites on these subjects, especially Hockey that aren't entirely in Russian as I have very little knowledge of the language. I hope to start to contribute on the message board as soon as I can think of something worthwhile to say.

Happy May day to all if you get this as a holiday.

P.S. I think democracy is older than Communism. It was a philosophy thought up by the Greeks and comes from the Latin term Demos meaning Government by the people. I don't mean to sound like a smart alec but this is a fact.

Thanks for the replies. Ithink fish and chips must be exclusively a UK thing. No one else I talk to from outside of the UK seems to know what it is. I did enjoy the May Day weekend. I ended up in the pub playing pool and drinking Cafferys with my friends.

I'll concede defeat on the tyranny part of your argument. I hadn't really thought of this as a philosophy just a consuquence of a philosophy.

Hi Lathaneil.. nice to start with you..
democracy is old , but don't you agree that romans define the word (PEOPLE) in a different way than what is known to us now.
I think that people for them were not

1-Female
2-Poor
3-Slave (Black or White )
4-Uneducated
5-DIFFERENT?

I'm sorry not to keep on the historical track, anyway thank you and enjoy Sun, who is really presnt in Saudi Arabia.
