Talking

Hi all!

I hope you're all well! How's life?
I don't get proper use of internet much in Dima's town here, so I just thought I'd drop a quick line at the overpriced internet cafe...

To those of you I don't know...hello!
To those of you whom I know...I miss you all! And I hope you are all doing well!

Russia is a really cool country with tons to see and do...At this present date, the weather is a balmy +35C!
I am burnt to a crisp. Yet people are still wearing pants, toques, etc. in this weather.

The people are really fantastic here! They don't get excited over nothing and they don't walk around with perma grins either...but they are warm and friendly and will invite you to have what they have (with regards to food and drink).

If you know what a lover of food I am, I have to say that the food here is fantastic! Because it's summer, there are so many berries, tasty mushrooms, veggies, wow. Just fantastic...and I've eaten a lot of regional dishes now too. It's amazing how different they all are.

If you plan on visiting this place, go with a Russian! Let them do the talking because there is usually a difference in price for tourists and Russians. For example...to go inside the Kremlin...30 roubles for Russians. And for tourists...150 roubles. It can add up, especially if you're budgeted.

I haven't seen any crime here since I arrived in early May.
I think Vancouver has more crime.

The subways are clean! No garbage, no cigarette butts...nothing! It's a big change from the subway where I live, and when people here ask me what I think about the subways..I tell them how clean they are and they look at me like I'm crazy. Good thing I'm used to that look! Anyways, each subway station looks different, and usually quite gallant...like a theater or something.

For any of you who care...the wedding's planned for July 26th I can't wait!

Take care all of you! I miss you guys a lot!!

With love:
Amy (Glocky)

Hello Glock Girl!

Nice to hear that you and your husband have a good time in Moscow (and elsewhere in Russia). I hope you will like Amsterdam too, during your overnight stay back to Canada.

Best wishes from Marinus.

Hallo, there in Russia,

I learned it´s best to be young and Russian in your country
for the discount advantages, rather than old and Russian
for the same discount.
Maybe there are a few who would like to change youth and
nationality into that of the dearly paying foreigner´s ?

In Luxembourg and surrounding countries we are giving the
reductions only to the very young and the seniors, but not
to our valued tourists, apart from special deals and packages. So, the old ones rejoice and the young ones have
a long way to wait for their turn.

best regards
Udo

All the best for the wedding. Enjoy your stay - it is a wonderful place to be. Nice to hear about the weather - things here in Northern Canada are a little wet these days (kinda reminds me of back in Vancouver!!!!). Again, all the best.

Hi all!

Thanks all for your sweet replies! I miss you all so much!
Today is the FIRST time in days that the server has worked here so I though I'd drop a line...

Well, the wedding was a great success My parents decided to show up and it was great to see them. Russian weddings a PERFECT...short, sweet, to the point...lots of time for the big party reception ha ha ha

Mari! Yes! I'm learning Russian, slowly, and rather poorly here. Dima's mom speaks no english so we are often communicating via SLOVAR! ha ha ha
By the way...Dr. W is doing fine

To those of you who are new here...
I can't wait to join you all again on a regular basis when I return to Canada in September. You can guarantee that I'll be here daily then.

Take care guys! Miss you all a lot!

Love: Amy

PS: Lady A! Where are you? I haven't heard from you for ions...for you (and anyone else who might care) I'm now at babtsova@hotmail.com
Love ya!
