hi everybody.

I am a new member and have just discovered this website. I have beeen to Russia a couple of times. I have visited St Petersburg and have enjoyed both visits. My last visit was at christmas when the average tempreture was -22 but it only felt like freezing point in England. The sights were beautiful and my family really enjoyed the snow. I would recommend it to everybody to go and see Russia during the winter. Does anybody know when the 300th anniversary celebrations are starting next year?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks redoctober.

VLADIMIR PUTIN SUGGESTS CELEBRATING ST PETERSBURG'S JUBILEE AS 300TH ANNIVERSARY OF RUSSIA'S UNITY WITH EUROPE

Vladimir Putin has suggested celebrating St Petersburg's 300th anniversary in 2003 as an all-Russia holiday.
The President stressed at a Kremlin press conference that Peter I planned Petersburg as a window to Europe.
Putin thinks that the 300th anniversary of Petersburg's foundation "can quite possibly be regarded as the 300th anniversary of Russia's unity with Europe." "We all are going to gain from celebrating the jubilee in this way," thinks the head of state.
The president reported on certain funds to be allocated so that the city could get prepared for the event and look in a festive way. However, said the president, the funds are going to be reasonable not infringe on other Russian regions' interests.

HI, REDOCTOBER,

Welcome to russia.com

I've been twice to Moscow in winter - for me it was about -14`C, but the wind was incredible. I went walking ON the river Moscva and met the fishermen dangling lines through little holes in the ice - amazing.

My visit to St Petersburg was in Summer and it was fabulous. We visited the Summer Palace and had 2 days walking around the city - it should have been 2 weeks, so much to see.

Best wishes,
Andrew
