Stalin was greater than Peter.
But he was not the best man in history. But after all, good men don't go in to politics....
Stalin did most for Russia.

Number one on my list is Mahatma Ghandi.

Well- the five year plans did industrialize the nation unlike anything before- he was a progressive leader, but he killed no less than Peter I in his time. I don't praise Stalin, just give him the credit where credit is due.
If communism hadn't come to Russia and Russia were to develop capitalism, hypothetically speaking of course, would not Russia become susceptible to the poison that is American culture? Look at what's happening now, and it's just the beginning, perhaps the influx of American values has something to do with the disorder of the nation, but, if capitalism were to have manifested itself in Russia 50 years ago, think what irreparable harm (intelectually and culturally) could have come to our nation? But this is a "what if", I base my argument on what's happening today...

Petrograd name was a good idea, too bad nowdays its associated to closely with Bolshevist take-over.

I think Volgograd should be named Pugachev after the Cossack Revolutionary who took the city. Or better yet, Kazan should be renamed.
