Rooskyprerebodchik,

Even without mentioning Ivan Grozny, the history of different peoples is so intertwined that discussion of the Huns has a place in this forum. Besides, it's interesting.

That's true. History is wonderfully complicated to discuss on only one particular country. For example, if one were speaking of Hitler, you HAVE to mention jews.

Well done AnarchistPatriot! i see you spelt Atilla's name correctly . Because the europeans spell Atilla:

A T T I L L A...which is wrong!. His name is spelt with only 1=T and not 2=T's.

After the the Huns AnarchistPatriot we Created yet Another Empire Called the The Avars.

It doesn't matter Tugay,.. He was still a Turk
"Turco-Mongol", and he spoke Chagatai Turkish.

Medieval Kingdom of Khazaria, 650-1016
Over a thousand years ago, the far east of Europe was ruled by Jewish kings who presided over numerous tribes, including their own tribe: the Turkic Khazars. After their conversion, the Khazar people used Jewish personal names, spoke and wrote in Hebrew, were circumcised, had synagogues and rabbis, studied the Torah and Talmud, and observed Hanukkah, Pesach, and the Sabbath. The Khazars were an advanced civilization with one of the most tolerant societies of the medieval period. It hosted merchants from all over Asia and Europe

BTW: AnarchistPatriot: Temur/Timur might have been more of a warrior-leader, but his grandson and successor Ulugh Beg had more contribution to Samarkand (from cultural/scientific/civilisation point of view). He was more of a scientist than a ruler, he built one of the first observatories in the world and also calculated trigonometrical tables for the functions like Sine, Cosine etc up to 9-digit precision (Without the help o an intel-Pentium CPU ). I wouldn't consider his empire barbaric (at least not in the criterion of his era).
