Tank desants could not be used on the operational basis, only on the combat basis. In an armoured division there would, or should, always have been an attached (mobilised) infantry division to take the place of the breakthroughs of the tanks, so the tanks could move on.
On a combat situation the people did ride tanks, but once the objective of the tanks had been achieved, the mobilised infantry wait for the infantry, normally, following behind before moving up again. Where are the tanks then? The tanks are 20 miles up the road on their way to the next objective. On top of that, supplies have to be carried by truck. There's only so much airborne supply can do. The USA supplied 501,660 tactical wheeled and tracked vehicles. 77,972 Jeeps, 151,053 (1 ton) trucks and 200,662 (2 ton) trucks. The initials USA on the sides were, in the USSR, taken to stand Ubiyat Sukinsyna Adolfa.

The trucks were the most important thing given to the Soviet Union from the Western Allies. And they did mobilise the Red Army. I don't see the problem with accepting that, I can admit a lot of what the Soviets did was vital for victory of all three.
Both the Soviet Union and the Western Allies needed on another. It's as simple as that. I always like discussing with you, because it's a discussion not a slanging match. Have a nice day.
