If you were on an opposing force in battle, soldiers duty and none of my friends or family were civilians. I'd hold respect for you.
There's a simple difference between the two SS groups, it's not hard to understand. But I don't really care what you think.

ok I do not post or visit this forum alot... In fact I think i've only posted once... But this debate interests me...
I will stay clear of insults and death threats as you fellows were doing... but I would have to say that this is originally Slav land and any 4th grade school teacher can tell you that a great deal of Slav blood has found its way into modern Germans... Who were nothing more then a bunch of chaotic states before Bismarck and the second Reich... Prussia for instance was maintained by Slavic Serfs under the rule of the Brandenburg and Hohenzollerns... Actually the modern English word "Slave" comes from "Slav" because of them once being used as slaves... So no imperialist conquest of these regions did not do those people any good as one of you tried to argue... It only brought fortune to rich greedy princes and tyrants... As Prussia during this time was a Spartan state five sixths of the annual revenue was spent on military... Mirabeau once said "Prussia is not a state with an army, but an army with a state." So my answer to this question is no it should not be given "back" to Germany... And no I am not of Slavic or German origin so I have no axe to grind... Try getting your hands on a copy of William L. Shirer's "The Rise and Fall of The Third Reich"... Although it is very long and somewhat biased against the Reich (who isn't?) it is a very good and intellectual piece of work... And not only describes the situation during the Third Reich but takes a look at the complete history of Germany and how the Reich was merely a logical continuation of that history... |

But Prussia was never Slavonic in population, as somebody said above, it was Baltic. If we have to consider taking it from Russia, then Lithuania would have to be the 'next of kin' to the long dead Prussians. After them, we would have to consider the Polyaks and Belorus, each having a considerable Balic substrate. Hmmmm, come to think of it, doesn't Moskva itself have a Baltic etymology?
If you start getting into all this autochthonistic stuff you open a horrific can of worms. If you investigate the worms you'll find half have their tails tied together anyway! The Balts were a large part in the make up of the Krivichian tribe of modern Russia's heartland, so maybe the Russians in Koenigsburg might as well just be left there after all. Hell, who won the bloody war???? |
