It is known that Hungarian language borrowed many words from Bulgarian language. There are many works conducted on this topic .It is not surprising to see many common words between Hungarian language and Chuvash one, descending from proto-Bulgar dialect

I wrote here some of these words a long time ago.
Batko, Bato, Bat- bigger brother, but also use when talking to an older man. Kutya-Kuche - Dog Bika- Bik - Bull Szalma - Slama - dried grass Szeno - Seno Balta - Balta - Axe and more. Check Geza Feher's list of these words an there was one more linguist working on this, but i can't remember his name at the time. Hmm i know it is a shame. I didn't mean that Pritsak is not a good and well respected historian. I just said that in the history there isn't an universal truth. Many other historians were #1 at their times, but later somebody younger said that they weren't right in all that they said. That's what i wanted to say |

Whenever I heard the name Gyula I remember the outstanding historian and linquistic Gyula Nemeth, the legendary name of Hunnology,Turcology and Eurasia historiography.
Avitohol, He is The scholar who claimed that the personel name Gyula was stemming from Dula (the name of dynasty of Bulgars). He himself was originally a Kuman (Cuman) Turk.It is known that the caption Yula was used in the form of Yula in the period of Arpad.then this caption was used to call a personel name . Turk.y is equal to gy in Hungarian as in many examples. for example,Patient=Turk.yarlo ---Hung.gyarlo. Nut=Turkic.yemish ---Hung.gyümölcs (comes from proto-Bulgar language)(the change l to sh) Ring=Turk.yüzük ---Hung(gyürü) (coming from Bulgarian language and the change r to z and etc.. Some Bulgarian loans in Hungarian. the consonant R in Proto-Bulgar and Chuvas dialect is mostly equal to Z in Eastern Turkic dialects and The consonant L is equal to sh in Eastern Dialects. look at the change R to Z and the change L to Sh in examples, Ox=(Hung. Ökür--- Bulg.ökür----- Chuvas Vigir.=Eastern Turk.(Öküz) Calf=(Hung.)Borju(boryu)---(Bul.)Buragu--(Chuvas.)Piru=Esatern Turkic(Buzagı) Summer=(Hung.nyar(nar)---Bulg.nar---Chuvas sur=Esatern Turkic =yaz Noon=Hung.del---Bulg.dül---Chuvas dül=Eastern Turk.tüsh Cradle=Hung.bölsce---Bulg.belchek =eastern Turk.(beshik) whelp=Hung.kölyök---Bulg.Kölek=Eastern Turk.Köshek yellow=sarga, pole=szaru,(shoe=saru),(to strain=szur),(number=szam),(twin=iker),(to write=ır),(dea=tenger),(bald=tar),(pig=tizno),(to sweap=süpür)and etc... |

you can see the works by Omeljan Pritsak and Talat Tekin on this but that by Geza Feher
see Die Bulgarische Fürstenliste und die Sprache der proto Bulgaren,Wiesbaden 1955.Omeljan Pritsak. See Tuna Bulgarları ve dilleri(Danube Bulgars and their languages) by Talat Tekin. We forgot to say where Gyula Nemeth was from. Gyula nemeth was from Hungary. |

Thanks!
It was very informative to know about "gy" and "y". Well, i speak a little bit of hungarian(my parents speak it freely) so i know how sounds (gy). It is something like soft "D" in bulgarian. For example "dyado- äÿäî" which means "grandfather".In russin is dedushka ![]() |
