Different statements ,which were made as to from where the name ATTILA ,who is the king of Huns, comes from are, as the following..
The greatest and best work of all times regarding European Huns is The World of the Huns prepared by Otto Haelfen Maenchen and Nine foremost experts. O.Haelfen Maenchen advocates that view that Attila is originally of German origin rather than Turkic one and explains Attila as Att (father in Gothic ) and Żla According to Otto haelfen maenchen ,Attila means litle father . Laszlo Rasonyi, one of Hungarian historians, appericates the view that Attila comes from the river Volga and the view that Attila is essentially a Turkic name.Magyars called ATTILA ETELE .Germans called Him ETZEL..Greek people called him ATILLAS..These names are nothing but the river ETEL (ATIL).Turks used the name ATIL (ETEL)to refer to the river Volga.. "Attila", pronounced 'Ah-til-lah in Hungarian, appears to be very old in the langauge, in the early form of "Etele". "Etel" or "Atil" appears to refer to"river" in the Western Turkic languages. The Khazars, who spoke such a language, called their capital "Atil", for instance. Omeljan Pritsak's derivation, which also suggests an explanation for the river. he proposes a hypothetical *es - *tel which he says would mean "big sea".*es is a reconstructed word by Pritsak based on later turkic words(he also uses it in his reocnstruction of the danube bulgjar inscriptions). *tel is based on turkic taluy "ocean, sea". his etymology has been much criticized. it would however, be consistent with his son's name dengizik (or *dengir*ch*ik) which is straighforwardly "little sea" in turkic. these would be consistent with the name Chinggis (most reasonably from turkic "sea") and the title Dalai (Lama) from the mongolian version of turkic taluy. |

I can tell you are well versed in the history of Huns, and that you probably went to college or even university. My theory is further backed up by the fact that you have no ability to detect sarcasm. You score highly in academic studies, but fail miserably when it comes to logic. Was I contesting your view? No. Was I making a light hearted joke? Yes. Was I mocking you? No, but I am now.
