why is they still falling in to the Soviet way of think that everything and everyone that is doing anything in Russian is Russian.
somethings to think about....

Ronald Reagan - American or Irishman?
Telly Savalas - American or Greek?
Liza Minelli - American or Italian?

National pride - only bad if Russian?

Belioz!

Yes! Another good thought...
It goes like that here.

"So, where are you from?"
"My mama's Italian and my father is French."

"So is that the east end of Vancouver then??"

Well, you get the point.

Talking Yugoslav

I dunt say anything about Russian nationalism being anything. I was asking a question. No need to get so humpty dude.

I is born in New Zealand to a Serb and a Jock. What I is int an issue. It would be if I was claiming every single Yugoslav person of importance as a Serb. I int; is it the case that Russians is doing that for anything that is done in Russian and is that a result of imperialism and the USSR.

Is we back on topic dudes

about the propaganda again--we did have to memorize poems about lenin and stalin--no one is denying that, but we also had to memorize poems by pushkin and lermontov..what i'm trying to say is that the most recent soviet union was not filled with propaganda--to children, it was just another poem they had to memorize (it was meant to sink in, but it was still just everyday life)--and plus to contrast that propaganda with the anti-communist propaganda in the US(and canada (?) ) the ussr was just instilling it's ideas and social idealism on the people that had to live it anyway...but--do you remember that old black & white movie about how the invadors from outerspace came and turned everyone in the town to blonde-haired, blue-eyed, mindless, stupified people with no voice? that was anti-communist propoganda in the US--along with every other big budget hollywood production where one american would go do battle with the evil russians...now that the cold war is somewhat over--we've moved on to chinese criminals.

Yes, we is. The topic YOU started specifically raises the question of who the Russian people are (or is, in your case). There's an implicit criticism in your sentence requoted above of everyone doing things in Russia being Russian. You don't mention who you'd LIKE to see doing things in Russia? So please, tell us?

And by the way - quit the "humpty" bit, it doesn't suit you. If you post-up half-formed opinions and invite comment, then you get comment, from any members who want to, including me. If you have a point to make (which I actually doubt) then try STICKING to it, without wisecracks about moderators and stuff. Leave your chips at home when you come to this forum - they'll leave a grease-mark on your shoulder otherwise

>> What I is int an issue <<

I completely agree. So stop MAKING an issue of it.
