If not an eagle, then what the bleep is it?

Like brother Putin, I prefer beer.

As a followup to your point about my being American, I was quite happy when team USA beat team Canada to win the 16 and under world junior ice hockey championship.

Hello, all.

I'm glad this came up. Mike claims that we were having a "civil discourse" - perhaps, but I was nonetheless thouroughly disgusted with him. Please look at this thread. Notice how Mike absolutely refused to answer my direct, simple "yes or no" question even though I asked it repeatedly. He knew the answer, but he also knew that the obvious response to his answer would shatter the web of legitimacy that he had been spinning around Vlasov. So he instead took the coward's path of dodging the question.

The one thing I don't understand is why Mike loves Vlasov so much. He seems to harbor some kind of illusions of a neo-White Guard Russia ready and willing to be the West's friend and ally if given the chance, and he couldn't be further from the truth.

Live from Moscow.

Yeah Petro, you're so full of it.

Scoundrels often demand simple yes or no answers to simplify complex matter that's not so cut and dry.

My views of Vlasov are academically sound unlike yours which are more on the emotional side.

As for your last point, since the Soviet breakup, Russia has consistently reached out to the West (America in particular), only to get dissed in return. This due in large part to the influence of the anti-Russian lobby in America. The interests of Poland and the Baltics don't necessarily reflect those of the West. A good many non-Russian backgrounded Americans recognize this.

As are you, but I at least have a reason to be so.

Cowards dodge questions the answers to which will hurt their credibility.

So, are you saying that Vlasov didn't betray the USSR? Are you saying that he was loyal to the Soviet Union throughout the war?

And yet none of your "academically sound views" can produce an answer to a question which is known to everyone who knows who Vlasov was.

Under the arch-traitor El'cin, yes. Everything else is diplomacy and nothing more.

Petro:

Out of curiosity, which political party and-or politcian do you most closely identify with in contemporary Russia?
