Hi all!

I learned all kinds of neat history (half of which I've forgotten already) during my stay in Russia, some of which involved the Partisans.
There was one movie I saw that was an excellent portrayal of the Partisan life, though I've forgotten the name of it, probably because it was in Russian. sorry about that.

Anyways, does anyone have any good information sources, or history knowledge of the Partisans that they could share with me? I'm keen on the topic really.

Thank you!

Amy

Hi,

I thought I'd recommend an excellent Russian (Soviet actually) movie about partisans in Belorussia during WWII, it's called "Come and See" ( "Idi i smotri" ), made in mid- 80s. It's available in North America (a friend of mine has a copy from amazon.com).

Question

Thanks for the tip! I'll look for it...

I did see one film that was filmed in Belorussia in black and white...I sadly can't remember the name...
But it was good, and it was about this young boy who joined the Partisans and how he matured after all he went through. I remember a scene where he returned to his village and found a pile of bodies by the house. That wouldn't be the same one would it??

Thumbs up

Oh!! That can be found here? Great!

Yah, what a good movie that was! It sure beats Hollywood.
Stuff like that makes it all feel so close at home. Thanks!

To read something on the WWII Partisans, including the Soviet ones, I recommend that you visit these pages:
