. He was Lenin's right-hand man, but after victory had been won - Trotsky was cumbersome to the cause.

------------------------------------------------------------

He wasn't right hand man. Stalin was.

You right! After the civil war the army was not the priority. And Trotsky lost some of his power, but not his glory.
Interesting. - Trotsky, Kamenev, Zinovjev had all the glory' but Stalin had all the power.

Stalin was definitely the least intelligent of the Poitburo. He was, however, the most powerful as you say. Because of the purge of 1921, Stalin inhereted the offices of Krestinsky - primarily the charmain of the Orgburo. This gave Stalin crippling control over the Secretariat and thus gave Stalin enormous power.

And Lenin allways asked Stalin to organize demonstrations.
Stalin had the experience. Before the revolution most of the leaders were living in west, but Stalin was in Russia organizing strikes and bloody demonstrations.

Sorry again, but I think, that Stalin was the most intelligent in the Politburo.
The others were more educated, than he was.
Intelligecia and education are not the same.
Those three were digging their own grave from the begining.

The others in the Politburo were absolutely brilliant - Stalin wasn't. Stalin was a survivalist. Stalin knew how to manipulate and assume power.

There is a difference between education and functional intelligence. The others had knowledge, but Stalin was the one who knew how to use it.

Like I said earlier, that they were so much intellectuals, that they looked like living on the moon. No practical, no common sense what so ever. May be Trotsky had some. But he was hated by Z.and K. He was all alone.
Stalin was a good theology student. The bible deals with people, so he new a lot about human nature.
