I'm new here and am interested in learning Russian. I have two phrase books and a 3 disc CD set. If anyone can give me some hints and tips to help me learn...that would be great!

The phrase books are handy when you travel, but if you master your three CD volume, you will be well on your way. There are no shortcuts. When you feel comfortable with the current set of CD's, get a more advanced set that includes a workbook, listen, repeat, and do the written excercises. Before you know it, you will get it, and build from there by reading newspapers and listening to net radio.

Audio/C.D/Video courses can be helpful... but it is much better to go to a local community college that offers a language course in Russian. Much easier to learn that way. Try that. If you cannot find one, than the self help course works too.

Good luck!
