On 22nd December 1849 the young political criminal was led out, with twenty others, for execution by firing-squad in the Semenovsky Square in St Petersburg. This is just an exerpt from Fedor Dovstoeskys chilling accounts in Memoirs of the house of the dead which I think is a brilliant work of literature, especially when Dovstoevsky had lived this nightmare being in penal servitude in Siberia.
Definitely one of my favorite novels of all time. |

hey I love Dostoyevsky, Memories of the House of the Death was the first book I read from him, and from there I realized I liked him very much, my favourite writer probably, have read Crime and Punishment, the Brothers Karamazov ,White Nights and some short stories
I think his books, beyond morality have a lot of existencial phylosophy
