Hi,
My name is Matthew.I am interrested on moving to Russia.I currently live in the USA but am looking for a cheaper way of life without my government steeling 8,000 dollars in taxes every year. Can you give me some pros and cons of your country.I always was a big fan of Russia and now it is time for me to pursue my ambitions. Please give me the average cost of a house, the features that will be in the house, the avergae cost of a car, and how hard it will be to find work. What types of jobs are needed there right now and how much is their base pay.I am interrested in living 15-45 minutes from a large city preferably Moscow or some other large city where there is good economy. Please give me some good info and your personall opinion on things of this matter.

Signed,
Matthew.R.Mihailovich

Hello Matthew.

There were quite a lot of threads with the same questions here on the boards. so you can easily find them.

I'll bring some data in short.

House costs.
The prices for the appartments and hosues are up and increasing (most parts of Russia).
Let's say, the house of my friend, which he bought for some USD 90' in 1999 is now worth some USD 450'
A 3-rooms appartment in a newly built house is priced some USD 35-40' in St.Pete (and some twice as much in Moscow).
Renting an appartment would cost you from USD 150 (for single room app.) to USD 400 (3-rooms appartment) to USD 1000 and higher (fashionable appartment somewhere in the center).
This price would include an appartment with some furniture, telephone and gas supply. Electricity costs some USD 20 per month.
Cars (Russian) are cheap. Niva is a good choice (an all-roader), starting with some USD 4' to USD 12' for the new model built by Chevrolet-VAZ joint venture.
Used cars (imported), I believe, are some 2 times more expensive compared to US or EU.
It's not really hard to find a job, but mostly, the openings are in the FMCG businesses.
The salaries usually start with USD 500 per month after tax (St.Petersburg). 2000 and higher is paid to the mid-top managers (or high level specialists) already.
So far about it. If you have any furhter questions - go ahead

Just let me know as soon as you go to Russia and I'll find a job for you... for food and internet access.

"Welcome to the jungle it gets worse here everyday"

Here's a question that you and other curious people need to ask yourselves, assuming you're not all independently wealthy - What can you do that a Russian can't do for a fraction of the your wage?

Aren't you the same guy that wanted a place in Russia in the mountains with cable TV?
