I was wondering if anyone could provide some advice on getting a job in Moscow. I am an American citizen, do not speak Russian, but would still like to work in Moscow.
Are there job recruitment agencies for foreigners? Is teaching english an option? If so, any school recommendations? Any advice is greatly appreciated. |

Hi Brasco!
Was interested to read your post and had to write back to tell you some good news - finding a job in Moscow is definitely possible!! I'm British, have worked there for 3 years, and i know (of) loads of other Brits & Americans who did too! Here's some by no means comprehensive but still up-to-date info about my own experience of moscow work life - hope you'll find it useful. If you don't know russian, that does narrow it down a bit but never mind, read on.... Taching English: If you are a (near-) native speaker, finding work will be a piece of cake. Demand is high! The main schools are: BKC, Inlingua, Language Link, English First... um, there must be loads of others too. (i used to work for one of them ) Don't know the contact details, but you could serach the net - they should have websites. you'd need a TEFL certificate to teach there, but you can read the sites and e-mail the schools and they should tell you all you need to know. By the way, finding private students is easy: via ads, noticeboards, posts, ppl you know who want to learn english and need a teacher. Demand, as i say, is high, especially if they like you.... It may seem daunting but if you do find work, there will surely be loads of ppl who are really keen to socialize and show you about. you will all be in the same position and get to know each other very quickly. Most people i know say their Moscow social life is the best they've ever had! don't know about the other points in your ??? but i hope this is of some use. best of luck with your search Rusalka777 |

teach english go to www.sunnyplus.ru
if you don't speak english and are not being transferred by a western company FROM THE US you are probably going to only have the option of teaching english.
http://www.sunnyplus.ru pays $1200-1500 per month US yes, no typo there. BKC and the big school that pay over $10 US per hour normally require a CELTA or other teaching certificate. however, with many of them, if you are actually in russia with resume in hand you stand a decent chance without the credentials they just pay you a little less. the job market for expats is on the decline. westerners are being replaced all of the time. if you are committed you'll do fine however. i can help set you up when you start out, just email me: robertestark@hotmail.com or robert http://www.apartmentinmoscow.com |
