I am moving to Socorro, NM and I have two questions. First, does anybody know any Russian-speaking families with small kids living in Socorro or in Albuquerque? I have a baby and a three-year old girl who speaks very good Russian. We are very interested in having Russian-speaking playmates. Are there any educational projects for Russian kids in New Mexico (schools, pre-schools or anything)? Is it possible to find a Russian-speaking baby-sitter (teen-aged girl would be fine)? Second, is there any place in Albuquerque or in Santa Fe to buy Russian food? Thanks a lot for everyone who can help!

Privyet!
If you check with the local college in socorro they may be able to connect you with some of the situations that you are seeking!
New Mexico is excellent..the pace is gentle and in my experience the people will welcome you like family.

I live in Texas
my children are 6 and 7. They are both boys. I am studying Russian and find it really enriching. I am going to the local college here to plug into a special interest group for russians here in Texas..so your post was synergy.
Are you excited about your move?

privet yulya...
I have a friend a few miles north of Socorro near Belen who is only a few years out of Moscow. I think she is in her thirties. I am sure she would be delighted to meet you. She was asking me if I knew about any restaurants in ABQ that might have Russian Cuisine... did you learn of any? red_hawk_7@excite.com. I would be curious to know if the Mining Institute had any leads for you...
