i was doing some research on the net about moving to russia and it was so informative
that i am going to share it with everyone! in order to move to russia permanently you
have to renounce your u.s citizenship(if you are a u.s citizen, natually!). you can renounce your
citizenship if you are over 18. you can do this by verbally communicating it to a u.s official
in the country of your choice or you can send a letter declaring it to your local government office. once you renounce your citizenship their is NO coming back so you better be sure you want to move. another important thing to remember is not to renounce your citizenship before being accepted by the country of your choosing. if you are not accepted first and you renounce you citizenship you will become a stateless person. this means that you are not protected by ANY government thus you have no protection from the government. if you have children under the age of 14 you cannot renounce their citizenships until they are 14.
hopefully i have given some of you a little insight on moving to russia or any country that the u.s does not allow a dual-citizenship for.--take care, gisele
