I´m a finnish female with a dream of several years living in Beautiful Altay mountain region.

If there are people from that region or someone who knows, I would like to know what type of living will be possible there? I know tourism business is growing bigger all the time, especially horseback riding tour are advertised regularly.. Which is good I suppose since they are my life long passion

How easy it will be for a EU citizen to get a long term visa there and POSSIBLY rent a small piece of land/a small house and grow own food? ( I´ve understood there are restrictions for foreigners purchasiong agricultureal land..)

OK, My true dream is to move to a mountain with a horse, dog and hard working husband, going back to the time then typing here wasn´t an option..

But we´ll stick to reality, ok?

I have just come back from Novosibriski, went to Altai for one week end, and love it- nature @ its wild!!

We have stayed in a chalet facing the river, climbed to a mountain, eated for 30 rubles per day!!...

Made freinds with a couple that live in a florest. 2 days were too short but what a sensation of wild and nature!!

I hope you can make it there too. As for the visa, you have 2 options, going on a toursit visa w/ a travel agency- this should be quite expensive... or like us, we have Family in Novosobriski and went on a private visa.

Good luck.
Goncalo
