Needing info on what is required to emigrate to Russia. Emails to the Russian Embassy go unanswered. No one I have spoken to inside Russia seems to know what the procedure is. More than once I have been asked (from the people at OVIR) why I would want to move to Russia.

I know all about the tourist, business, and student visa programs but can find nothing about emigrating.

Best advice I have so far is to go on a 3 month tourist visa and keep renewing it. Eventually I will be granted some type of quasi-resident status, or so I am told by the folks at OVIR...

Any other leads or info would be appreciated.

FYI, I am 41, single, and have a good basic understanding of the Russian language both spoken and written. I am retired so finding employment is not an issue for me.

Welcome to russia.com!!

I know I read about this somewhere...

Do you need information beyond...medical examination, literacy/language testing...and some sort of example [for lack of a better word at this time] in regards to how you would contribute [as a citizen] to Russia.

Good luck on this endeavor!

Sincerely,
Natalie
