Dear Ruizu,
Don't worry, there are loads of winter garments to buy in moscow, and they don't have be expensive. E.g. Last winter i got a lovely warm sweater at a market for 400 rubles - about 10 US dollars. Shoes: i think it is actually easier to get the right footwear when you are there. in moscow, try the footwear emporiums at metro stations prospect vernadskogo and avtozavodskaya. Shop around, if you have time, as prices do vary. Coats: my advice is to get a puffa - warm, light, AND inexpensive. Clothing stores in the center are not the best option cos prices tend to be astronomical. try covered markets ('yarmarki') instead. Good ones at metro Filovskiy park, Konkovo, and Savyolovskaya (so I've heard). My last bit of advice may sound strange but it's my personal secret for staying cosy in the winter months: WEAR UNDERSHIRTS. Not necessarily thermal, but an extra layer will make all the difference. Many newcomers to moscow forget / don't know about the warming properties of undershirts and so spend the whole time shivering needlessly Happy dressing! Rusalka777 |

thermal underwear
if i were you i would make sure that WHEN YOU ARRIVE you are wearing thermal underwear and have a hat and gloves. don't be so sure that your luggage will not be delayed a few hours or even a day. it does happen with a decent bit of frequency.
